“I truly have a passion for what I do. I love the challenges, the problem solving and the strategizing in the real estate business as much as developing long term friendships and having fun.”

My mission is to use my communication and negotiation skills, integrity, experience, real estate industry and technical knowledge to provide exemplary service to my clients. I’ll provide hands on attention, detailed information and clear intelligent strategies that yield top results. By working equally with sellers and buyers I bring a balanced perspective.
Relationships:
My networking skills allow me to bring a full compliment of resources together to achieve results. I have strong relationships with mortgage brokers, inspectors, architects, engineers, contractors, staging designers, real estate attorneys, title/escrow officers and insurance brokers. My clients often become friends and are clients for many years.
Knowledge and Experience:
I’ll use my remodeling knowledge and experience to help you gain the best return on your investment or to evaluate a property for you to purchase. In addition to my primary market of single family homes, I’ve worked with investment properties, fixers, new developments, condo conversions, probate sales and diverse commercial properties (retail, office, industrial, businesses). This includes Victorians, Craftsmans, Tudors, Mediterraneans, Cottages, Traditionals, Contemporary Lofts and Condos. I have personally owned single family, multi-unit and development properties over the last 20 years. My prior experience in engineering, technology and commercial real estate combined with representation of over 100 clients offers a comprehensive understanding that brings unique value to the table.

My Background:
After graduating in 1984 with a BS in Engineering from WPI in Massachusetts, I made the move to California and have enjoyed living in the East Bay for the last twenty years. I gradually transitioned from a career in Engineering and Technology to Commercial and Residential Real Estate. It was probably inevitable as my extended family owns and manages real estate throughout the east and west coasts. While I was raised with a strong work ethic, I believe striving for a balanced lifestyle is crucial to success. A healthy amount of play in our lives helps keep us rejuvenated so we can have more energy to give back to others.
PERSONAL PROFILE
What I do for fun:
I love my neighborhood in Rockridge. I enjoy our annual block parties, our email networking group, walking to great local restaurants and shops and working close to home. My two children have gone to Chabot, the local public elementary school where my wife and I are active members in the PTA (Parent Teacher Association). I enjoy traveling, anything Italian, nature in all forms, sports, and all that California has to offer. I like playing as many sports as my body allows me in my 40s! While I support our local sports teams, I am still an avid Boston Fan after all these years, so please don’t be upset. New Englanders are just wired that way. Oh yeah, I appreciate a sense of humor in everyone! I won’t be able to tell you what’s happening in the latest reality show, I don’t watch much T.V. Community involvement is also important to me. I’ve been active in the local political process, I’ve volunteered at my children’s school, I serve as block co-captain and I’ve been a lector at the UC Berkeley Campus Newman Hall for over 14 years.

Testimonials:
“References drive my referral-based business."
"Perry is on a very short list of people who I trust to advise me on real estate sales transactions. He has helped me make 12 purchase and sale transactions of real estate in Oakland in the last eight years. They have ranged from a single family home in Rockridge to apartment houses in the Northgate District, to condos in Glenview . He brings a level of analysis, sophistication, marketing savvy, attention to detail, ethics and calm to every transaction that I have not found in other realtors. He knows more and will do more to make a good transaction happen. He has worked tirelessly for me--far beyond the level of compensation represented by the deal at hand. He works for Lawton Associates Real Estate Brokerage in Rockridge and has deep resources to call upon if you need legal, design, building, engineering, finance, or landscaping help. If you are buying or selling real estate in Oakland , ask him to help you. Perry's your expert."

“We just purchased our first home through the hard work and dedication of Perry Riani. It is not often we write…but feel strongly that Perry deserves the extra recognition. Perry continuously went above and beyond the call of duty… he has a very astute understanding of the housing market, how to maneuver through the house buying process successfully and even has an understanding of a house’s structural integrity nearly equivalent to an engineer. More importantly, Perry was honest, hardworking, answered all of our questions, and overall did everything he could to make us feel comfortable and informed about our decision. And, I must say, we are not easy clients. It is important to us that you know how pleased we are with all of his help. We have had a lot of experience dealing with realtors in the area (before meeting Perry we were looking for a home for nearly a year). No one has even come close to his level of honesty, professionalism and hard work ethic. We are fortunate to have met Perry and, as I am sure you know, you are quite lucky to have someone like him... Sincerely yours, J.B.& D.B.”
“Dear Perry, Now that we have completed the sale of my home I would like to take a moment to thank you for the excellent service that you gave me throughout the entire process… I want you to know how much I appreciate the energy, creativity, determination, and most of all, integrity that you showed in bringing this process to a successful conclusion. As this was my first experience with selling a property, the time you took to answer my questions and explain the various aspects of the marketing and sales process is also greatly appreciated. There is no doubt in my mind that I made the best choice possible in selecting you as my listing agent, and I would do so again in a heartbeat. Please accept my sincere thanks for a great job and very best wishes to you in all your future endeavors. My very best regards, Richard Coleman”
“Perry, Thank you for all your hard work on our behalf, and for your appreciation for what we are doing…It is such a pleasure to work with you, and we really admire your work ethic and professionalism. You are also becoming a true friend, and we enjoy our time with you…You continue to amaze me with your willingness to help out, and we appreciate it very much… You’re a great listener…” P.D.
“Perry helped us buy our house and I want to say he was just the best agent. We were very, very pleased not just with how things worked out, but with the whole relationship, the time Perry took with us, and his commitment and expertise. Beyond knowing the market, and his business, he also has a great network of resources in terms of contractors and other experts to help out. He was also evenhanded and realistic about the market at a time when most agents push only the up, up and away view of housing prices. We will definitely work with him the next time we are in the market.” - Surindha Talwatte
“Where to begin? Thank you so much for your friendship, extraordinary market knowledge & savvy, your late night visits, pragmatic & effective advice, and for helping us to find and buy a fabulous home in the perfect neighborhood! We’re excited about our home and about our friendship with you and your family. Thank You!” Linda Chandler
“…my appreciation for the relentless review of my lease. M.M.
“Thank you for selling my West Street home. The circumstances under which I was selling made it so difficult for me to be proactive in the sale that it truly would have been impossible for me to sell without you. You went far out of your way to help with everything from the lawn to the plantings to the interior and the daily deluge of garbage left by the neighbors. I have never heard of a real estate agent going to the generous and thoughtful lengths to which you extended yourself. I owe you my deepest gratitude and will recommend you to all my friends who are planning on selling or buying.”– Anna H.
“Wow Perry! That was by far the best house ad I’ve ever read!! It makes me want to stay. I look forward to seeing the photos of my home on the website. Thanks.” Betsy Parker
“We want to thank you so much for all your help in finding us our first home. Since we just got married this last year it was a very special time for us. You provided us with all the information we needed to make a sound decision and it has been fun working with you. The thing that impressed us the most was that we felt as though you treated our search for a $400,000 home as if we were one of your $1,000,000 clients. That truly separated you from other realtors we’ve worked with. We will definitely be calling you when we want to buy our next home.” - Luis & Melissa Ramirez
